CHICAGO – Coach Marisa Arce announced on Tuesday updates to the 2020-21 women’s tennis schedule.
During spring break week, the Blue Demons will head to Kansas for a couple of nonconference matches and have a rescheduled BIG EAST match for 12 p.m. on April 9 at Xavier.
On March 22, they will take on Kansas State in Manhattan at the Mike Goss Tennis Stadium. First serve is TBA.
Two days later they face Wichita State at 1 p.m. in the Coleman Tennis Complex.
Arce & Co. are off to a splendid 7-1 start with road wins at Illinois State, Bradley, Valparaiso, Creighton and Cincinnati, a neutral-court victory over Kansas City and a victory over Marquette at Lakeshore Sport & Fitness. The lone blemish is a road setback at Notre Dame.
Kansas State is 4-2 after beating Drake, Denver, Wichita State and Arizona with losses to Arkansas and then-No. 24 Arizona State. The Wildcats are currently riding a four-match winning streak.
Wichita State is 4-11 and snapped an eight-match losing streak last Sunday with a victory at North Texas.
Xavier is off to a 7-1 start, and the Musketeers are a top contender for the BIG EAST title along with DePaul. Xavier has defeated UIC, Eastern Michigan, Northern Kentucky, Miami (Ohio), Bowling Green, Lipscomb and Middle Tennessee State with the lone loss to Virginia Tech.
