NFL free agency dates Broncos fans should know – Broncos Wire

NFL free agency is (kind of) set to begin Monday.

Officially, the NFL’s new league year (and free agency) won’t begin until Wednesday, March 17. However, teams are allowed to begin negotiating with pending free agents on Monday, March 15.

Many of the big deals across the league will likely be agreed to early in the week before any signings actually become official on Wednesday. The Denver Broncos might reach agreements with players on Monday and Tuesday (and we’ll be tracking all of their moves on Broncos Wire).

The start of the new league year on March 17 will also trigger any pending trades as well. For example, quarterback Carson Wentz isn’t actually a member of the Indianapolis Colts yet — he will be on Wednesday. Last year, the Broncos made trade agreement with the Jacksonville Jaguars for cornerback A.J. Bouye more than a week before the new league year began.

So the dates to know are Monday — when negotiating can begin — and Wednesday — when signings and trades become official.
