INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI women’s tennis returns to Indianapolis for a two-match set against UIC over the weekend. The Jags will take on the Flames on Saturday (March 27) at 12:45 p.m. and Sunday (March 28) at 9:45 a.m.

IUPUI will be looking to bounce back from two losses at Oakland last weekend to begin conference play. The Jags lost 3-4 in their last match against the Golden Grizzlies after falling 2-5 in the first match of the weekend.

Meghan Bernard had the best weekend for the Jags, winning both of her singles matches against Oakland. Bernard won her first match in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 10-6 and followed that up with a 7-5, 7-6(7-4) to close out the series against Oakland. Both matches came at the No. 4 singles spot.

Bernard is now tied with Sarah Lounsbury for the team lead with four singles wins on the season. Bernard also teamed with Samantha Hayward for a doubles win the last time they took the court and the duo leads IUPUI with three wins as a team this year.

UIC sits at 10-4 on the season and 2-0 in Horizon League play. The Flames are on a six-match winning streak and beat Cleveland State in both matches in their Horizon League opening weekend two weekends ago.

Ana Jover leads the team with a 10-2 overall singles record and has won a team-best seven-straight matches. Georgia Gulin is second on the team with a 9-2 overall singles record. UIC has a winning record in every spot in the lineup except for the No. 1 spot where the Flames are 5-9 overall.

In doubles play, UIC is 20-13 overall but are 10-3 in No. 2 matches and 10-10 combined in No. 1 and No. 3 matches.

IUPUI is 0-3 all-time against UIC, having lost all-three matches by 7-0 scores.
