BOZEMAN, Montana – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association selected Montana State men’s tennis coach Trey Morris for its ITA USTA Mentorship Program, the ITA announced.
The program pairs veteran college tennis coaches with young head coaches and facilitates and collaboration and interaction as a way to develop coaches and enhance the profession. The program is in its second year, and brings the 15 pairs together later this summer.
“I’m very excited to be selected for this program,” Morris said. “This is a great opportunity for me to continue developing as a coach, to share ideas and gain the perspective of a titan in college tennis coaching who has accomplished so much.”
Morris finished his second season at Montana State this spring, and has led his youthful Bobcat teams to a 9-13 overall record in his two seasons, 2-3 in Big Sky play. The Bobcats are 0-8 against Pac 12, Mountain West and West Coast Conference schools in the past two seasons, 9-5 against other opponents. Freshmen Brad Buckland and Daan Van Dijk and sophomore Nejc Sitar each earned All-Big Sky honors in 2021. The 2021 Bobcat team featured only one senior, with five of the program’s top six players returning for the 2021-22 season.
