Basketball Brings In Seventh Player In Robinson – Eastern Illinois University Athletics

Eastern Illinois men’s basketball continues to build its roster for next season as head coach Marty Simmons has announced the signing of junior college guard Chris Robinson.
Robinson was the sixth man at Hutchinson Community College playing an instrumental role last season as the team was 19-7 last season as a freshman.  Robinson averaged 8.7 points per game with a pair of 22 point efforts against Neosho County CC and Cowley CC (in the NJCAA Region 6 Championship game).
“We are excited to welcome Chris to the Eastern Illinois basketball family.  Chris is a dynamic guard who has great speed and athleticism, and the ability to score the ball or make plays for others,” said Simmons.  “He brings toughness and character to our program.  He spent last season competing for Hutchinson CC, which is one of the top junior college programs in the country.  He helped them to a 19-7 record, averaging 8 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists per game in a sixth man role.  We are excited to add him to the Panthers family and thrilled to have him in Charleston.”
Robinson is (5’11”, 165) from Brooklyn, NY and played his prep basketball at Putnam Science Academy.
Simmons has now brought in seven players as the Panthers build a roster for the 2021-22 season.  Previously announced new additions to the program include CJ Lane (6’5, G, Florida SouthWestern College/Eatonville, Fla.), Myles Baker (6’3, G, Central Connecticut State/Chicago, Ill.), Elijah Wood (6’5, G, Univ. of Nebraska/Potomac, Md.), Jermaine Hamlin (6’10, F, Univ. of Illinois/Lincoln, Ill.), Paul Bizimana (6’8, F, Haltom HS/Haltom City, Texas) and Kejuan Clements (6’2, G, Triton College/Chicago, Ill.).
