Boston College football to play Alabama in 2031 and 2034 – BC Interruption

Some distant but big future scheduling news out of Chestnut Hill today: Boston College has signed an agreement to face Alabama in non-conference play in 2031 and 2034. Jason Baum teased it earlier and Pete Thamel from SI reported this morning:

According to Andy Backstrom, the games will be played on September 13, 2031 at BC, and September 16, 2034 at Alabama.

This will be the 5th and 6th time BC has faced Alabama, with BC holding a 3-1 all-time series advantage. The last time was 1984 when BC won 38-31. Coincidentally, Nick Saban signed a contract extension through the 2028 season earlier this week. Convenient.

It feels a little weird to look this far out with scheduling given how much the football landscape may change by then, but such is life – this is the second BC deal that now stretches into the 2030s, adding on to 2030, 2033, and 2035 matchups with Notre Dame. It adds to a trend of BC scheduling some big-time foes in the next 10-15 years.

With this matchup announced, the outlook for Boston College’s future nonconference schedules is below.

The future schedules feature at least one P5 every year except for 2023, and there are multiple P5s on the docket for most years after 2023.
